About Me

Eric Kaepplinger: 2009 School of the Art Institute of Chicago BFA with emphasis in painting and drawing. Currently living in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. This Blogspot is for the simple purpose of documentation. My work is inspired by the auto-didactic minds of the past and present such as Max Ernst, Martín Ramirez, and Jackson Pollock. Artists that created their own way to make work, pushing aside traditions, needing more than what is readily available to accurately express their own personal human experience. In my mind, invention and extrapolation are the cleanest representation of this time and place that I have been apart of, and those two terms describe the most important aspects of my work. By using form invention to catapult extrapolation, I’ve created a process in which invention and intuition breed automation, resulting in my own language of self expression. ekaepp@gmail.com
